The heart warming scenes of soldiers stepping off military aircraft from Iraq, on their way home after their tour of duty, but with some down time as relief aid in some ravaged area of flooded homes, washed away lives, volcanic eruptions or lives upturned into turmoil. And we highly commend the very highmilitary emotional inelligence that has these soldiers being allowed some down time to help people in need and who are showing their obvious appreciation. It is healing and curative to help villagers who show appreciation because you are needed and asked for because of a disaster. Better therapy to have people bowing and smiling, children following the soldiers with a new toy or doll or chocolate. What wonderful mental therapy for all, and this should surely become a standard final portion ofa war tour of duty. For studies show that of ten items experienced, we recall the last month most often. If some more time is spent after the hell, this could cut down on the bad nights to come.
And this crucial curative use of hands and body by the soldiers will help remind a soldier, after duty tour about other careers, such as better dike construction, higher ground housing, doll maker, chocolate baker, candle lighting kind of person. Handling small things such as puppies or kids softens any soldier's heart muscles, and is very restorative to all curing potential within us, and should be very much a part of military emotional intelligence strategy to return stateside more balanced people whose most recent behaviors may have them want to talk about that as well.
Or go back as a Peace Corp kind of warrior, hammer and saws, dolls and chocolate bars in hands. And some big smiles waiting for you, wherever the next volcanoes blow, you will hear, you will know. They need a guy who gave it a try, liked how it made him feel, and now understands why. On Red Cross or Red Crescent, Salvation Army and we. Let the world also remember America stands to be free.
