Most of us know that bass fishing in the United States is very popular, but what a lot of people do not think about that this type of sport is popular all over the world. You might not know this but some of the very best fishing lakes are located in Mexico. A lot of eager fishermen are drawn to these lakes in Mexico by all the stories that go around about the big fish that are caught over there, and presumably with every cast that is thrown. Lets take a closer look at some of the more popular fishing areas in Mexico.

El Salto Lake

If you want to go for some good bass fishing then you do not want to pass by Lake El Salto. You can find it fifty miles from Mazatlan which is a popular destination for tourists. There are a lot of ten pounds and more largemouth bass caught in this lake. The best time to visit this spot is from September up to June, but you can catch fish all year round. You should book a trip to the lake in advance because it is becoming a very popular fishing location. You can book yourself a fishing trip for a day starting at about $500 or a couple of night trips that start around $1600.

Lake Huites

Located on the west coast of Mexico you will find Lake Huites which has some perfect fishing opportunities for you. Like with Lake El Salto the best time of year to visit this spot is from September to June. For around $2000 you can book a week long package but shorter stays are also possible. A nice fact to know is maybe that this is a man made lake.

Of course there are many more lakes in Mexico you can visit for your fishing adventure. Lakes like Comedero, Baccarac or Agua Milpa are all becoming more and more popular. All these lakes lure you with the double digit bass that you can catch there. Although the newer lakes will hold more fish the older ones are the best choice for the larger fish.

There was a time that there was great concern about the damage that was done by over fishing these lakes. The authorities took good precaution measures to stop this from happening. And because of this, these areas are again perfect for catching those big ones. Every year more fishermen and women are taking the trip to one of these Mexican lakes. If you are serious about fishing then you should make room in your calendar and plan a trip.

Sometimes you need to look abroad for that new experience. New in the sense of how many and how big but also what you catch. There will come a day that you are bored staring at that same pond every time you go fishing. Start looking at the internet sites that tell you about the different fishing areas around the world. Mexico is a good starting point in your online search.
