When you decide to get a PDA, there are so many choices it is difficult to decide on one that is right for you. The most important consideration is to know how you are going to use the PDA once you have it. Take time to think about the possibilities before you make your purchase.

Some people simply use their PDAs for a clock and calendar, address book, and to take a few notes. If this is the case, you probably do not need a PDA with a lot of memory. PDA memory starts at 16 megabytes, two-thirds of which will be available for use after accounting for the operating system.

If you use the PDA for accessing the Internet, making and writing on spreadsheets, or playing computer games, you will need more memory. Some PDAs have a Global Positioning System (GPS), while many of the newer ones double as mobile phones. All this takes as much memory as you can get on a PDA.

Processing speed may also be important to you. If you need to access the information in your PDA and you do not want to wait, you need a fast processing speed to get it done quickly. Check out all the options and find the one that will work for you.

You can buy software or download it from the Internet to personalize it further. Also, you might want a PDA with special features like a memory card slot. You can get PDAs with synchronization so that they can give and receive data to and from your PC.

It is sometimes difficult to type in information on a touch screen with a stylus. Synchronization makes it much easier to get some data from your memory card onto your PDA.

Memory cards are very important to most PDA users. These are used to save and transfer data from their PDA to other devices such as PCs. Remember that there are memory cards with many different amounts of storage space on them. Be sure to get one that is adequate for the information, pictures, or MP3s you want to store on them.

Bluetooth technology is popular these days, and many PDAs come with Blue-tooth-enabled devices. You can get headsets, mice, and keyboards that will work with your PDA. These accessories can make working with your PDA much easier.

If you are visually impaired, there are PDAs made for you. These PDAs do not rely on touch screens for input. Instead, they are controlled by voice commands and buttons that make the programs easier for you to use.

As you are getting your PDA, remember to get those items that will protect it. You will need a case for your PDA, but make it one that will not weigh it down excessively. It should be sturdy, but not too heavy. Then, get electronic cleaning wipes. These are invaluable in cleaning your touch screen without damaging it.

Getting the right PDA for you can take a little research and some time spent shopping. If you find a PDA you are satisfied with, the effort will be worth it.
