Some people like the gloss of a thin layer of wax and let it wane out while the patina changes color as it ages. While cleaning if you notice that the patina is coming of or the statue is showing discoloration, do not alter it as it may damage the statue and reduce the value of the sculpture. Abrasive brushes, polishes and cleaning chemicals should not be used as it may react with the metal causing more harm than good.
