Diamonds at low net prices were unheard of not so long ago. It was always whether or not you had someone who had a brother in law in the trade, before you could hope to get a bargain price on a diamond. And that is just how it was.

The jewelery store owner had a mystery hold on these mystery diamonds, and it was all a secret between him and the diamond mines in South Africa, or where ever. It was no where near to me, we all understood.

Until a decade or so ago, when an Australian coal mining company found that some of the carbon deposits, usually coal, were having spikes of other highly heated carbon pipes popping here and there. They were not sure quite what to make of this, and what to do with it if it contained what they thought. And it did.

In the frozen ancient rock of far north in Canada is not coal but occasional spikes of diamonds shooting up to the surface. These carbon elements happen rarely in ancient rock where somehow there is a crack in the strata down deep into the high heat core of the earth.

And from here, at some moments at a precise heat and combination of volcanic like spurts, some carbon changes from coal and it crystallizes into diamonds as it shoots out of the core of the earth to the surface.

And this amazing transformation creates a diamond, rather than a lump of coal, and yet, like us all, comes from the common earth. How hard that can be to get in our mostly thick carbon, not yet many diamond brains.

Those diamond minds of history such as they are inspire. Our lesser selves can be pushed to reach beyond what we might only be, with the contact of diamond like moment of brilliance as when a young Alexander has his mind pushed further to greater thoughts and questions by his mentor Aristotle.

To imagine that now diamonds can be had, to show your Helen of Troy how much you appreciate all those many times she has stood by you while you navigated rough shores together and made it safely home each time. And here now, your brother in law who has a friend should go home.

You have found that the power of the net has brought every diamond that is forever right to your computer. So while you sit in your favorite chair you get to decide how much fun you can handle at any one session.

Look in and around and be amazed that diamonds are not only forever but they are up for auction bids at prices that you say I do not believe this. But it is so amazingly true, and so new that the brightest are there first. Our grand daughters can show their brother, or their dad, how it an now be such a bargain to tell her how much you deeply admire, appreciate, adore and love.
