By the time December rolls around, so do the ones around our midsection. We made a lot of excuses at the end of the year such as the holidays are coming, I will take better care of myself and lose weight after New Years. Does this sound like a familiar statement?
You are not alone, as the staggering new gym memberships sold in January are proof enough. It is the owners of these clubs who benefit, because after only a month or two, an astounding 80 per cent of these New Year s resolvers drop out! The gyms got their money, and you will start the cycle all over again, making excuses and wait for...next year.
It is all too predictable that the human psyche can pump itself up for an event, and yet intentionally deflate it when times get too hard or they become too tired with everyday events.
Here is the major problem with this continued way of thinking. Next year might not come. If only you had kept that New Year s resolution to eat more healthfully, drink more water, quit smoking and drinking, walk more, take better care of your skin so aging doesn t begin to show the next time you look in the mirror.
Why isn t that enough to get us moving in a healthier direction? It s because no one thinks it can happen to them. So who said you were invincible? Apparently, in our own minds, we did. If we didn t think overeating, lack of exercise, bad habits, and not taking care of that healthy glow we were born with could disappear one day, we just might really do something about it.
Did you know that heart failure and malignancy (cancer) is the main cause of over half of all deaths for people over the age of 45? What if someone told you that tomorrow, you would be one of them?
The death rate for the age ranges from 25 44 per 100,000 people is 177.8. Yet the death rate for the age range from 45 64 per 100,000 people is 708. As you can see by these jaw dropping statistics, our lack of health catches up with us at a mere 45 years old. Therefore, anything is possible.
What is also possible is that you finally do keep your New Life s Resolution, and start taking better care of yourself today. No more excuses. We are all tired. We all have problems.
Set goals by writing them down. Look at your BMI Chart and find out where your weight and height factor come in. Are you normal, overweight, or obese? Start drinking more water, at least 64 oz. per day. After a while, it becomes second nature and you won t leave home without it.
Fight the signs of aging with an anti wrinkle face cream treatment that actually works. You don t need to buy 10 20 products so large corporations make money off you, while you are still searching for the best wrinkle cream.
Take that first permanent step toward taking better care of yourself, because whether you choose to change all or only one of the steps above, we will all be glad you took that leap to better health!
